The local hospitality industry in Surrey and Hampshire has issued a stark warning to local MP Gregory Stafford at his recent roundtable, hosted with the support of the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII).
In response to the bleak future set out in the meeting, Gregory is now calling on those who support our hospitality industry to make their views known through a survey at the bottom of this webpage.
Gregory hopes that by encouraging public support in the suggested measures below - which have the support of the BII - that the Government may understand the urgent need for action.
Those completing the survey have the opportunity to add further suggestions which Gregory will include in his correspondences with the Chancellor and Government where appropriate.
Gregory said after the meeting:
“Labour’s policies are a wrecking ball for our pubs. The Chancellor has handed down a death sentence to the British pub as we know it. Hospitality is the UK’s third-largest employer and a cornerstone of our communities, yet Labour has loaded it with crippling costs and bureaucratic red tape. During COVID, there was a lifeline.
Now, businesses feel abandoned and betrayed.
This isn’t just bad policy – it’s economic vandalism. Without urgent action, Labour will have the blood of Britain’s pubs on its hands.”
