Gregory Stafford MP announced on social media this week that he and his wife Caroline are riding in the annual Farnham Charity Bike Ride on Sunday 15th September.
Having taken part in last year’s ride, this is his first-time riding as the elected representative for the area.
Greg will embark on the fifty-mile journey alongside other riders, heading west out of Farnham and venturing as far south as Four Marks and Selbourne in Hampshire.
As outlined in his announcement, thanks to the generous support of residents and supporters last year, the initial goal of raising five hundred pounds was exceeded by more than double.
This year, the target has been set at a new level of two thousand pounds.
Greg said: “I’m very much looking forward to riding with the Royal Surrey Charity team once again in support of this outstanding cause.
Community-driven events like the Farnham Charity Bike ride help charities promote their hard work so I am pleased to see so many organisations involved this year.
I have been hard at work since July representing our community, and with Parliament now back in session I am going to have to try my best to find spare time to get some training in before the big day.
If you are looking to support a good local cause, both Caroline and I would be enormously grateful on the Charity’s behalf for any contribution to our JustGiving page.”
The Royal Surrey Charity works with multiple elements of the healthcare provision at the Surrey hospital, with their charitable support providing new technologies, working to reduce waiting times, and expanding treatments to an additional seven thousand patients per year.
A spokesperson for The Friends of the Royal Surrey Community Fundraising Group said:
“We are delighted to have a team in the Farnham Charity Bike Ride and Sportive once again. It’s wonderful to have support from our local MP Greg Stafford and his wife Caroline riding for us for a second year. Generosity saves lives, so please support this cause.”
Greg and Caroline are joining a team of seven others supporting The Royal Surrey Charity in the ride.
