It is fantastic news that the campaign to save the tip in Bordon has been successful as Hampshire County Council have today confirmed the Household Waste and Recycling Centre will stay open.
Over the last few months, thousands of residents have voiced their concerns over the proposed closure of the tip, including those that completed my survey on the issue.
Without a tip in Whitehill and Bordon, those in the towns and elsewhere in East Hampshire would face longer journeys to the nearest tip, which would have not only caused unnecessary inconvenience but also lead to a potential rise in irresponsible activity including fly tipping.
Local representatives Cllr Andy Tree and Cllr Debbie Curnow-Ford have been actively helping to present a strong local case on behalf of residents; together with my petition and continued contact with the most senior representatives at the County Council, I am delighted to see a positive outcome for the Bordon tip.
I am committed to delivering results like this for our area and will continue to build on my productive relationship with the Council to work on solutions for other key issues.
